Local Beaches

One of the Algarve's greatest attractions is its beaches. Whether you prefer long sandy stretches with ample facilities or tiny isolated coves, you won't be disappointed. With about 150 miles of varied coastline, you have a lot to choose from.

Carvoeiro

A nice sandy beach very close to all the shops and restaurants.

Centianes

A beautiful sandy beach, small but wide, encircled and sheltered by cliffs. Steps down to the beach. Lifeguard. Pedaloes and canoes for hire. Limited parking space.

Benagil

The village beach is home to a fishing fleet and you can often rent a small boat for exploring the coves to the east. Further along is a wider beach hidden in cliffs, ideal for children. Bar/restaurant.

Marinha

One of the most attractive areas on the coast. Park on the cliff top and walk down the long path to the  beaches. Bar/restaurant, ideal for children.

Armaca de Pera

A very long beach, the eastern part a vast golden dune extending to Albufeira, and to the west a series of rocky coves, bars and restaurants. Good swimming with flags and lifeguard. Pedaloes and canoes for hire. Good parking. Bus terminal.

Ferragudo (Praia Grande) 5 minute drive from the villa

A beautiful beach on the River Arade estuary, wide and sandy with easy access. Beach bar. Excellent for all water sports. Windsurfers and sailing boats for hire. Beyond the pier and lighthouse are more beaches facing the open sea.

Alvor   15 minute drive from the villa

A long sandy stretch. On the east side of the beach is the small sheltered cove of Trees. This is rocky and good for snorkeling. The main beach at the west has wide easy access. Beach bars and restaurants. Windsurfers and sailing boats for hire

Meia Praia

One of the longest stretches of beach in the Algarve. Many beach bars and restaurants. Good for surfing, but take care as there are currents. Plenty of parking space.
